Beware of These Early Signs of Hypertension

Beware of These Early Signs of Hypertension

Hypertension is a killer. It causes too many deaths in the country every year. Have you wondered why?
We are aware of the dangers that we might face whenever we experience high blood pressure. We already know that it can eventually lead to more complications which become excuses for possible untimely death. Despite this, we do not exert enough effort to prevent our blood pressure from rising up. In fact, most patients only notice that they are suffering from hypertension at such a late stage.
Hence, we should educate ourselves with the early signs of hypertension. Here are some of those:

  • Severe Headache

  • Blurred Vision

  • Dizziness

  • Fatigue or Confusion

  • Difficulty breathing

  • Short of breath

  • Chest pain

  • Pounding in the neck, chest or ears

  • Irregular Heartbeat

  • Blood in the Urine

  • Nausea or Vomiting

  • Pale skin color

  • Heart Attack

Once we feel any of these signs, we should immediately visit the doctor and get some medical tests done to know whether we already have high blood pressure.
Consequently, we could also monitor our blood pressure at home. Besides, measuring our blood pressure is actually simple and painless. It is done with a device called sphygmomanometer which could be bought from a pharmacy like Welcare Pharmacy & Surgical. The possible results could be the following medical signs of hypertension:

  • 90/60 or less, it is possible that we have low blood pressure.

  • More than 90/60 but less than 120/80, this is the ideal and healthy blood pressure reading.

  • 120/80 to 140/90, this might be considered normal blood pressure reading but this is already a bit high. This stage is also called as the pre-hypertension stage which often leads to hypertension, so we must work hard to lower our blood pressure if we reach this point.

  • The top number is 140 or more, we already have high blood pressure whatever is the bottom number.

  • Top number 90 or less, we have low blood pressure whatever is the bottom number.

  • The bottom number is 90 or more, we already have high blood pressure whatever is the top number.

  • The bottom number is 60 or less, we already have low blood pressure whatever the top number is.

A high reading of blood pressure at a given time does not automatically mean that a person has hypertension. There are still other factors which doctors would look into before diagnosing a patient with such condition. For example, stress could cause temporary rise in our blood pressure. Whenever this happens, doctors usually take our blood pressure at different times to confirm whether what we are feeling is already hypertension or not.
Since a sphygmomanometer could easily be bought from our pharmacy. We offer high-quality Medical Supplies in Brooklyn, New York. It would be advisable to get one for your home.
